Architects of
Alternative Capital

We don't shop stories; we translate them.

We don't pitch decks; we progress deals.

We don't watch; we work.

When complexity challenges the imagination of traditional capital, we architect the alternative that closes.

Blount Capital guides leaders through debt raises to close when closing is tough. We aren't lenders — we make lenders move.

The Client · Who We Serve

Not Quite Bankable.
Far From Unworthy.

The deals they said could not be done.

Poor underwriting has never been a problem — thousands of great lenders prove that daily. Good, but that makes it all the more damning when one passes, and your business is performing. Dressed up in formulas and obscured by vague reference to policies and boxes, just a few of those verdicts would have anyone questioning if the gaslights are on or off.

Picture a thousand lenders shining lights on a wall — each light a credit box, the wall the market. Companies that land where beams stack get courted, approved. Those that fall where the edges miss, seams run, and holes gape? Quite the opposite. They aren't broken; they aren't unworthy; they're unheard. Not, judged poorly; not judged.

We serve those who simply need a voice. A few lights nudged their way.

A chance. An advocate. A nudger.

Structural Friction

Loan terms that made sense at close have become restrictive.

Tripped covenants, customer concentrations, dry borrowing bases, milestone misses, a bad year, a rough quarter, a contract gone sideways — an issue for one lender may not be an issue for all.

Honestly — you may not need us.

We love being needed, but debt isn't right for every situation. Is it right for yours? You shouldn't have to pay to find out. The upfront work we do in market, with lenders, ensures you don't: we'll tell you if debt is an answer, if you need a third party's help, and if that party is Blount Capital.

That may not be the industry norm, but then neither is voluntarily adopting a fiduciary duty. We have your back.

It's great if you need us. It's great if you don't.

The Engagement - High Performance

How We Work It

01 of 03

01

Blount Candor

We communicate plainly with clients and lenders, surface adverse facts early, and do not shape our message to preserve comfort or pursue outcomes circumstances no longer support.

Client Fluency

We develop a deep understanding of client objectives, constraints, and operational realities, allowing us to anticipate issues, reduce translation loss, and carry client priorities consistently throughout the engagement.

02

Intellectual Rigor

We question everything, challenge assumptions, focus on what actually matters, and follow evidence to the right conclusion—not the desired answer. We then convincingly help others to see the light.

Adaptive Judgment

We reassess our views as information changes, adjust recommendations to new circumstances, and change course when the original approach no longer proves to be the best path forward.

03

Bold Negotiation

We determine where leverage is real, which terms matter, and where compromise is appropriate. We apply pressure selectively, exchange concessions for value, and avoid negotiating points without merit.

Steadfast Conviction

We choose our engagements deliberately and commit fully. When conditions change, obstacles emerge, or the process becomes difficult, our commitment does not. Our conviction does not waver.

Our Team

Good People Helping
Good People

The strategy, the memos, the calls, the long hours, the work — is all made easy when it's good people helping good people.

Gregory Blount

Gregory Blount

Founding Director

Greg began his career at Wells Fargo, underwriting middle-market debt across a broad range of industries and facility types — from manufacturing to media, leveraged real estate loans to capital-call lines — before moving to San Francisco and Wells' Tech Group, where he managed complex public-company relationships involving syndicated credits, capital-markets exposure, international trade, and global treasury.

His focus shifted to Wells Fargo's early-stage technology practice, given the team's ongoing struggle to address the capital needs of emerging start-ups with conventional underwriting. Recognizing the issue, Greg organized cross-functional teams across legacy business lines — agriculture, automotive, clean energy, real estate, aerospace — to improve market engagement by pairing industry expertise. Finding success, he was called to MUFG to help build a middle-market technology team, then went on to practice venture lending at Bridge Bank, serve as CBO and fundraiser for a tech start-up, and finally shift into debt consulting three years ago.

Across more than $4.0 billion in commitments underwritten — the earliest start-ups to household-name post-IPO issuers — Greg came to understand both the discipline and the limits of institutional credit. Again and again, he saw sound companies get declined where institutional appetite ended, not where credit quality did. He founded Blount Capital to fill that gap.
